Becoming a fully qualified ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) involves three clear stages. We'll support you through every step.
Theory Test (Part 1)
A 90-minute assessment consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions and 14 video hazard identification clips. We provide full online theory training from day one to prepare you thoroughly.
Driving Ability Test (Part 2)
Demonstrate your own driving ability to a high standard. The examiners assess:
- Expert vehicle control and road procedures
- Anticipating other drivers' actions
- Sound judgement of distance, speed and timing
- Safe, considerate and eco-friendly driving
- Performance on motorways and dual carriageways
- Emergency stop capability
Trainee Licence
After passing Parts 1 and 2, you can obtain a trainee licence. This allows you to legally teach pupils and start earning income before your full qualification is complete — so you're making money while you finish training.
Instructional Ability Test (Part 3)
A DVSA examiner observes you delivering a live lesson to assess your teaching ability. They will look at your patience, ability to identify and correct faults, safety standards, and overall teaching effectiveness. We prepare you fully for this with mock lessons and coaching.
